Publications / Creative Projects

  • Patient Record Retrieval | Engineering Innovation and Design (SPRING 2019): Patient Record Portal is a software that gathers users’ medical history, organizes it on database and offers secure way to access patient data using RFID tags.
  • Re-cyclic Energy | Electric Machines (FALL 2018): The task was to generate electrical energy using human mechanical energy (by riding a bicycle).
  • Delta Emerald | OOP Methodologies (FALL 2017): Developed a 3D video game which was chosen as the best game of the batch based on C++ and SDL libraries. I acquired code organization skills by modularizing my programs and defining appropriate classes and object-oriented design methodologies.
  • Micro Controllers | Robotics (SPRING 2018): The task was to build a multitasking robot using Arduino and different sensors. It was capable of doing multiple tasks such as line following, position identification, color recognizing, ball throwing and obstacle avoidance.

Final Year Project

Project Title

Passive Filter Design for Variable Frequency Drives

Description

We worked with Gatron Industries Ltd. to devise a methodology of designing a passive filter to suppress the undesirable harmonic content produced by VFDs. Harmonic currents are generated by the operation of nonlinear loads and equipment on the power system. The significance of solving this problem can be understood by knowing the effects of harmonics from both engineering perspectives, including capacitor bank failure, transformer overheating, neutral overloading, etc. and from a business perspective, including increased maintenance cost, interruptions and downtimes cost. Solving a problem will definitely help us in overcoming these problems. It is a 3D Augmented Reality based application which uses the concept of gamification in understanding programming concepts. The aim is to make learning easy and fun so that students understand the concepts of programming better. (Group Project)
